The Department of Agrarian Reform has provided P183 million in Community Service Facilities to Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries' Organizations in Negros Occidental, said Regional Director Stephen Leonidas, of the DAR-Negros Island Region, said yesterday.
The most recent is the awarding of 15 brand new 10-wheeler trucks worth of P85.5 million yesterday at the Pavillon Hotel in Bacolod City.
Leonidas said the turnover of the CSF was under the AR Community Connectivity Economic Support Services Program, an intervention of the department to retain the lands awarded to ARBs through increased production and engagement in agri-based and related enterprises.
He said the turnover is the last ARCCESS activity of DAR since the budget for CSF has been utilized and benefitted the ARBOs in the region.
DAR previously distributed tractors and threshers to ARBOs as CSFs, along with farm capacity building and enterprise development activites, he said.
In his message delivered by Board Member Victor Javellana, Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. reminded the ARBOs to take good care of the facilities given to them, and use the new dump trucks to acquire more assets for the organization.
Leonidas assured that the facilities will be maintained by the ARBOs as stated in the terms and conditions in the agreement.
“Once we receive reports of violations, the agreement states that it can reclaim the CSFs since they are considered usufruct,” he added.*KBC
