DAR, civil society organizations hold dialogue

visayan dailyThe Department of Agrarian Reform-Negros Occidental 2 was recently commended by Civil Society Organizations for conducting a consultative dialogue with them.

Fourteen CSO leaders met with DAR-Neg. Occ. 2 officials Wednesday and raised issues and concerns on the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer II Lucrecia Taberna said the meeting was held to strengthen the partnership of the department and the CSOs.

The leaders and the DAR representatives agreed to conduct regular dialogues with other organizations in Southern Negros.

Jun Pandan, of Kaisahan Tungo sa Kaunlarang Kanayunan at Repormang Pansakahan Inc., thanked and commended the department for initiating the dialogue. He also promised to give their all-out support to DAR-Neg. Occ. 2.

Kaisahan Legal Officer Rolly Peoro said they will lobby for the concerns of the department and other CSO leaders to Congress for the members to act on.

Taberna and PARPO I Enrique Paderes, presented the latest accomplishments of the department, particularly in the Land Acquisition and Distribution.

They also discussed issues and difficulties in implementing the program and asked the CSOs for their cooperation in their resolution.*KBC
