Strong DAR-CSOs partnership for CARP implementation pushed

sunstarTHE civil society organizations (CSOs) in Negros Occidental vowed to help the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) resolve problems and issues that hamper the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp).

DAR-Negros Occidental II, in a press release Thursday, said the agency can effectively and efficiently perform if CSOs will help in the resolution of issues presented during the series of dialogues they conducted.

These issues include problems in the installation of agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs), farmer beneficiary identification, survey, rampant leasing or selling of rights, erroneous notices of coverage (NOCs), and those involving other implementing agencies.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Lucrecia Taberna emphasized the upholding of the integrity of the agency in the delivery of public services to all farm workers and agrarian reform beneficiaries.

Taberna also challenged CSOs to work closely with DAR to achieve the common goal which is "achieving a nation where there is equitable land ownership and empowered agrarian reform beneficiaries who are effectively managing their economic and social development for a better quality of life."

Moreover, DAR-Negros Occidental II and leaders of various CSOs agreed to conduct regular monthly dialogues at the municipal or city level, quarterly provincial dialogues, and semestral fellowships to discuss and resolve issues and as well as to strengthen the bond and camaraderie among them. (PR)
