ELEVEN farmers in Bago City, Negros Occidental recently received their respective proof of land ownership under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp) from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Domingo Gatmaitan, in a press release, said the 11 emancipation patents (EPs) covered a total of 4.87 hectares which form part of the total 96 hectares of agricultural lands previously owned by Estefania Pirovano.
The farmers who received the EPs were Joseph Mahinay, Delia Casabuena, Angelico Carias, Elisa Laguio, Rodolfo Calsado, Jose Zamora, Ramil Parreño, Uldarico Caritativo, Ramil Parreño, Jovito Dagumani-an and Virgilio Teodoro, all are residents of Barangay Antipuluan.
Farmer-recipients have expressed gratitude to the agency for its assistance in the process of acquiring the land, the press release said.
Gatmaitan also appealed to beneficiaries to protect the lands awarded to them and warned them to refrain from selling or transferring their rights.
DAR-Negros Occidental II has been campaigning against the illegal sale, transfer, and lease of lands awarded to agrarian reform beneficiaries as provided under Section 4 of Administrative Order No. 7, it added.(PR)
