DAR-Negros Occidental II completes paralegal trainings for CSOs

sunstarBacolodTHE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental II has completed the series of paralegal trainings and workshops for various civil society organizations (CSOs) and municipal agrarian reform program officers (Marpos) in the southern portion of the province.

The activities were held at the Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City from September 15 to 23.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Lucrecia Taberna, in a press release on Monday, said they have successfully achieved the objectives of the trainings such as having common understanding of DAR’s administrative orders, issuances, agrarian laws, and guidelines related to the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp).

It has also strengthened ties between DAR and CSOs in the province, Taberna said.

“Many issues and concerns were discussed and given resolutions especially those contributing to the usual misunderstanding between the DAR personnel and CSO leaders and members,” she added.

Topics discussed during the series of trainings include salient features of the Genuine Agrarian Reform Bill, thrust and policies of the new administration, and of various administrative orders like farmer beneficiaries’ identification, survey and joint field investigation, and support services, among others.

Through the trainings and workshops, DAR-Negros Occidental II said it has agreed with CSOs to conduct strategic planning specifically for those plans and strategies geared towards expedition of land acquisition and distribution on October 19 to 20. (PR)
