Agrarian reform coops trained on business planning

sunstarCHAIRPERSONS and managers of 23 agrarian reform cooperatives in the northern part of Negros Occidental attended the two-day business planning training held at the Northland Resort in Manapla town until October 13.

The participating agrarian reform cooperatives comprised the Federation of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperatives in North Negros (Farbconn) formed in June last year.

The planning-workshop determined the business feasibility of the first five projects identified by the agrarian reform cooperatives during their strategic planning held last September 28. These projects include lot purchase at Barangay Caduha-an in Cadiz City, purchase of school and office supplies, photocopying and digital photo printing, hollow block production, and trucking for sugarcane hauling services.

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has been facilitating the strategic planning for Farbconn to set its direction in the coming years.

Majority of its coop-members are plantation-based with areas ranging from 30 to 250 hectares of awarded lands through the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.
