NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Dec. 1 (PIA6) – The employees from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) – Negros Occidental 2 were able to plant around 1,500 mangrove trees recently at Barangay 3, Pontevedra town.
Around 150 employees from both DAR and the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENRO) took part in the tree-planting activity.
Lucrecia Taberna, provincial agrarian reform program officer, said the activity is a yearly program of agency under gender and development, which aims to instill the true spirit of environmental stewardship among DAR personnel.
The activity is also in observance of the National Greening Program of (NGP) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
Likewise, it can be recalled that DAR also conducted the same activity at Brgy. Ara-al in La Carlota City in October.
DAR employees from the provincial and municipal offices participated in the activity along with the personnel from the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) from Bago City. (JCM/CBA/PIA6-Negros Occidental)
