THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental has installed 37 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) at Barangay Haguimit in La Carlota City Monday.
DAR-Negros Occidental II, in a press statement, said the newly-installed ARBs were awarded 64.79 hectares of landholdings formerly owned by Jesus Jalandoni of Piliwood Bacolod Corp. situated in Hacienda Alegria.
DAR-Negros Island Region Director Stephen Leonidas, who led the installation rites, urged beneficiaries of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp) to promptly pay their taxes and land amortization to the City Government and Land Bank of the Philippines, respectively.
Leonidas also told the beneficiaries not to engage in illegal sale, transfer, lease or any other form of conveyance of the right of ownership, right to use, or any usufructuary right over the land acquired under the law.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Lucrecia Taberna encouraged the ARBs to organize themselves into an association or a cooperative to avail of the support services from DAR. (EPN)
