DAR, ARBO officials ink P7M MOA for services

visayan dailyA Memorandum of Agreement was signed between the Department of Agrarian Reform Negros Occidental 2, and the Minoro Isabel Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association for  economic support servicesworth P.7 million to  Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries in La Castellana, Negros Occidental, yesterday.

The MOA  covers the provision of support for the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Project using Integrated and Diversified Natural Farming Technology cum Community-Managed Potable Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Project replication that will benefit 78 ARBs.

It was agreed in the MOA that the DAR will allocate the budget for the purchase of construction materials for the farm facilities such as greenhouse/plant nursery, fermentation building, drip irrigation system, biogas digester, iron removal filter and water harvester tank and other project-related trainings.

The MIARBA will provide 2,000 square meters of land  to be used as project site, located inSitioMinoro, Hacienda Isabel and Brgy. Sag-ang,all  in La Castellana.

The DAR and the association will jointly support the implementation of the project which aims to enhance the productivity of ARBs and income by livelihood projects in Agrarian Reform Communities through organic technology that can be managed and sustained by the community.

MIARBA Chairman Mario Patricio said "The Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Project will be very beneficial not only to the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries of MIARBA, but also to the whole community of Brgy. Sag-ang. Aside from its benefits towards our environment, it can also help us in attaining food security and in increasing our productivity. The DAR through CARP has been a blessing to us since then".

The MOA was signed by Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II LucreciaTaberna and Patricio.*
