DAR installs Bago farmers

visayan dailyA new batch of agrarian reform beneficiaries haveacquired land from their former employer in Bago City yesterday.

The Department of Agrarian Reform 2 in Negros Occidental installed the 46 farmers of Hacienda Weber in Brgy. Don Jorge Araneta formerly owned by Fay Gamboa-Weber.

The land was awarded to farmers almost 5 years since it was covered by the DAR under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) after the issuance of Notice of Coverage on November 9, 2012.

Municipal Agrarian Reform Officer RosarioNorbe led the installation during which she reminded the new ARBs of their obligations as the new land owners. She emphasized the need to pay taxes and amortizations to the local government of Bago City and the Land Bank of the Philippines.

Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo himself had asked for the help of the DAR in the campaign during and after the installation, for the payment of land taxes by the ARBs to helpin the growth and development of the city.

MARPO Norbe assured the farmers that the DAR will help them, most especially in the organization of the group so they can also avail of the support services of the department.*
