DAR inks agreement on CPWASH

visayan dailyA partnership development program between the local government of San Enrique and the Department of Agrarian Reform II in Negros Occidental will soon provide potable water to the 500 farmer residents of Brgy. Batuan, through the Community-managed Potable Water Supply or CPWASH. The Memorandum of Agreement was signed yesterday by Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer II LucreciaTaberna and San Enrique Mayor JilsonTubillara and San Enrique Agrarian Reform Cooperative Chairman Eduardo Moscoso.

Under the MOA, the DAR will allocate an amount for the construction of the facilities and the technology and trainings for the para-engineers while the LGU counterpart is for the cost of labor and livelihood bundle added in the project. The project will start today.

The CPWASH project aims to provide safe drinking water to the community and promote ecological sanitation through low-cost technology.

After the signing of the MOA, ParpoTaberna said the DAR adopts the agrarian reform community program approach as a key to address limited sources,and, to synchronize efforts and interventions among program stakeholders to ensure socio-economic and ecological viability.

Taberna challenged the members of the cooperative to unite and give value to the support services they have received from various government agencies, particularly the DAR.

“You have to be one for the spirit of sustainability, strategize different mechanism for survival. DAR is always here to provide any support services available for you”, she added.*
