DAR awards CLOA, aid in Manapla

visayan dailyCertificates of Land Ownership Awards were given to the farmer beneficiaries of Brgy. Luna of Cadiz City yesterday by the Department of Agrarian Reform-North of Negros Occidental. Agrarian Reform Program officer-in-charge RizalinaYuguing said the new CLOA holders are the 40 farmers of TresHermanos Small Farmers Association which underwent the Land Tenure Improvement-Program Beneficiaries Development (LTI- PBD).

Yuguingsaid that while the land titles were being processed through the LTI, a corresponding capacity building through trainings and seminars was given to the group. The PBD aspect was conducted to organize the farmers and prepare them for the credit facility to finance their farm operation inputs.

Along with the giving of the CLOAs was the awarding of the check for P1.5 million from the Agrarian Production Credit Program or APCP so they will no longer be victims of loan sharks. The program is being implemented in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Agriculture and the Land Bank of the Philippines.

The group has acquired the 25-hectare land which they will developinto a collectively-managed farm so they will have sustainable livelihood, while at the same time integrating other crops to augment their income.

Other DAR officials at the activity were Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Teresita Mabunay, MARPO Myrna Omaliao and MARPO ZenaidaCarinal.*MAX N. MACAHILO
