DAR launches Sagay farm business school

PIAnewlogo2017NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, June 28 (PIA6) - - The Department of Agrarian Reform – North recently  launched the Farm Business School in Barangay Poblacion I in Sagay City. The Memorandum of Agreement for the farm business school was signed by  DAR, the local government of Sagay and the Mulawin Lanatan Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II (PARPO II) Teresita Mabunay said the assistance from DAR does not end with  the installation of the agrarian reform beneficiaries in their properties.

“DAR is committed to provide our farmer-beneficiaries with support services for your long-term sustainability,” Mabunay said in a release from DAR.

According to Mabunay, the ARBs play a  significant role  for the success of the said project as they are equipped with knowledge and skills to be entrepreneurs, to create linkages to the market and to gain from marketing their products.

The Farm Business School is implemented under the Capacity Building of Small Farmers in Entrepreneurship Development and Market Access which aims to enhance the entrepreneurial and marketing skills of farmer-ARBs to run a profitable agribusiness.

Initially, the farm business school has 35 ARB-enrollees.*(JCM/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
