Negros Island Region conducts ARBOs Summit 2017

news reg 1 pix 1 august 3 2017The Department of Agrarian reform (DAR) yesterday conducted Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOS) Summit 2017 empowering ARB Organizations towards productivity and sustainable development in Bacolod.

Regional Director Stephen M. Leonidas said a total of 400 participants attended in the event, 150 ARBOs from Negros Occidental North, 150 ARBOs from Negros Occidental South and 100 ARBOs from Negros Oriental.

Leonidas said the DAR Negros Island Region awarded nine best performing Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs) in the Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs) and Special Awards to Linking Agrarian Smallholder Farmers to Market (LinkSFarM) Project, Partner LGUs in Agrarian Reform Community Project II (ARCP 11) and Regional CARP Implementing Team and Partners in celebration of the 8th year anniversary of Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reforms.

He disclosed the awardees were based on seven categories 1. Sycip Plantation Farmworkers Agrarian Cooperative of Negros Oriental for Agrarian Production Credit Program (APCP), 2. RAMROD Agricultural Multi-Purpose Cooperative (RAMPUCO) of Negros Oriental for Village Level Processing Center Enhanced Project (VLPCEP), 3.  Lapay  Agrarian Reform Reform Cooperative of Negros Oriental  and Dalayapan Agrarian Reform Cooperative of Negros Occidental North for Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity & Economic Support Services (ARCCESS) (CSF-tractors & dump trucks), 4. CDC-9 Agrarian Refrom Community Cooperative of Negros Oriental for Community Managed Potable Water Sanitation & Hygiene (CPWASH), 5. RAMROD Agricultural Multi-Purpose Cooperative (RAMPUCO) of Negros Oriental for product development, 6. Hacienda Malaga-Cuenca Agrarian Reform Cooperative (MACARBEN) of Negros Occidental South for Micro Finance and Casa Agrarian Reform Cooperative of Negros Occidental North and Maninihon, Omod, Catmod, Posi-on Farmers MPC (MOCPFAMCO) of Negros Oriental for Institutional Development.

“Special awards to local government of Candoni, Hinoba-an, Pontevedra and Valladolid of Negros Occidental South as partner LGUs in ARCP 11 and to the local government of Cadiz and San Carlos of Negros Occidental North for  Linking Agrarian Smallholder Farmers to Market (LinkSFarM) Project”, he added.

Leonidas thanked the entire workforce of DAR NIR, PARCCOM, the CARP Implementing team and partners and encouraged the ARBOs to continue the implementation of the agrarian reform program.

Edwin Avenido of Sycip Plantation Farmworkers Agrarian Cooperative of Negros Oriental, Pedro Ogatis of Hacienda Malaga-Cuenca Agrarian Reform Cooperative (MACARBEN) of Negros Occidental South and Azucena Medel of Casa Agrarian Reform Cooperative of Negros Occidental North expressed their deep gratitude for the assistance of DAR in mentoring their cooperative to make them strong and progressive.

The activity was also the venue for the ARBOs exhibited their products and marketed them.
