The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) central office is now International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 certified after careful and deliberate preparation by the top management and employees which led to two successful audits in 2015.
The DAR has acquired the ISO 9001:2008 certification effective April 29, 2016 as the Lead Implementing Agency of Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program; undertakes land tenure improvement; governance services; development of program beneficiaries and agrarian justice delivery in the Philippines. It covered a total of 87 submitted DAR procedural processes in the various offices of DAR central.
The certification was awarded on May 23, 2016 during the flag-raising ceremony. Ms. Elsa G. Purificacion and Mr. Norlito M. Suelo conferred the award to Sec. de los Reyes and other officials present.
Sec. de los Reyes expressed gratitude to all those who took part in the certification process, particularly during the 1st and 2nd Stage audit which were conducted last year. He said, “This certification is a collective effort of DAR’s employees and top management. It signifies the continued improvement of DAR’s service to its stakeholders.”
The ISO 9001 is based on a number of quality management principles which includes the following elements: customer focus, leadership, engagement of people, process approach, improvement, evidence-based decision making and relationship management.
Earlier on, the provincial office of DAR-North Cotabato passed the ISO 9001:2008 certification audit on January 21, 2016 and an awarding ceremony took place on April 18, 2016 during the First Quarterly Formative Assessment 2016 Conference for all PARPOs in Clark, Pampanga.
The ISO 9001:2008 audits for both offices were conducted by the Guardian Independent Certification Ltd (GIC) Philippines, a Philippine-based third-party certification body accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) and Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ).
