ILOCOS SUR—The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) here recently conducted a business planning seminar for coffee farmers belonging to the Sigay Coffee Growers Association to help them outline economic activities and measure the success of their coffee production business.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Christianne C. Suguitan said “the seminar would also help our farmers to produce quality products from coffee that is safe and of acceptable standard. This would be a big help in maintaining the trust that presently exists between local coffee growers, markets, and the consumer.”
Resource Speaker Esterlin Navarro said the farmer-participants were lectured on competition analysis, design and development, operations and management and financial information.
“By the end of the seminar, the participants were able to establish their business objectives and map out sales and marketing strategies,” Navarro said.
The two-day seminar was implemented in coordination with the Department of Trade and Industry and participated by 25 officers and members of the Sigay Coffee Growers Association. (Rizalyn T. Ambida)
