DAR trains agrarian cooperatives on credit management

news reg 2 pix 1 jan. 23 2017ILOCOS NORTE—The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently held a credit management and capacity-based lending seminar to four of its agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) here to help them in managing their finances.

“The seminar’s objective is to train our ARBOs on how they can better handle their finances by teaching them credit discipline and financial management. It would also coach them on how to save and pay their loans on time,” Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Vic M. Ines said.

The training was attended by the officers of four ARBOs, the Bacarra Norte Farmers Agrarian Reform Cooperative, Sanjera de Padual Irrigators Association of Sarrat, Madamag River Farmers Irrigators Association of Dingras and Camanga Upland Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative of Badoc.news reg 2 pix 2 jan. 23 2017

Ines said the seminar is part of the ARBOs’ transition credit program designed to prepare them to become credit conduits of the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP).

“Through the ARBOs, the LBP grants loans to farmers to finance the acquisition of agricultural implements for their corn and palay production. This seminar would help them perform their financial duties and responsibilities with due diligence,” explained Ines.
