A series of consultations on the priority needs of the local levels were summed up in the Local Government Units’ Local Poverty Reduction Action plan submitted to the Department of Budget and Management thru the Department of Interior and Local Government provincial and regional offices for approval.
The DBM has approved the projects of six municipalities of Ilocos Sur for implementation thru the Department of Agrarian Reform fund in which farm to market roads are still in the department’s menu of projects and activities.
This is a way of reaching the government’s goal of inclusive growth and poverty reduction and promotion of good governance at the local level. Hence, an orientation on the Grassroots Participatory Budgeting was conducted to DAR BDCD personnel of Ilocos Sur and the six recipient municipalities, namely: Cabugao, Bantay, Narvacan, Sta. Lucia, Sta. Cruz and Suyo.
Said orientation was to present and understand the guidelines pertaining to these projects and discuss technical terms and requirements. A total of 20.9 million pesos will fund the 13 projects on farm to market roads and bridges.
