DAR gives equipment to Isabela farmers

Picture1The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) on Tuesday said it recently turned over two farm tractors worth P5.6 million to two agrarian-reform beneficiaries’ organizations as part of its effort to provide support services to beneficiaries of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.

The distribution of tractors under the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services Project of the DAR is expected to increase food production in Northern Isabela.

The beneficiaries of the project are members of the Lapogan Multi-Purpose Cooperative and San Francisco Kababaihan Auto Savings Group in Northern Isabela to mechanize farming.

Regional Director Marjorie P. Ayson said the four-wheel 90-horsepower tractors will also help increase farmers’ income and encourage them to venture into agriculture.

The DAR regional office has contracted the equity distributor Equity Machineries Inc. to conduct a hands-on training on tractor operation and maintenance for the beneficiaries of the project.
