AMBAGUIO, Nueva Vizcaya, June 18 (PIA) -- The local government unit here is expected to be given with a potable water system project by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
Mayor Arnold Dinungon said they have already signed a a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with DAR for the putting –up of a community-managed Potable Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (CPWASH) project in their municipality.
This will ensure our villagers with a continued supply of safe and clean drinking water,” Dinungon said.
He said the CPWASH project will be integrated in their 2016 Municipal Development Plan(MDP) and will be constructed in every barangay.
The project, composed of Iron Removal Filter, Bio-sand Filter, Biogas Digester and Water Collector, is expected to benefit 320 members of the St. Damien Cooperative(SDC) and their household members.
Under the agreement, DAR will provide Php80,000.00 for the capacity building of the identified para-engineers, the LGU will shoulder Php50,000.00 for the materials while SDC will pour in Php30,000.00 for the labor cost.
The project is expected to contribute to the attainment of the country’s MIllenium Development Goals (MDGs).
MGD are development goals that were established following the Millennium Summit of the United Nations in 2000. To ensure environmental sustainability is one of its goals. (ALM/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
