Diffun coop members trained on Mushroom package and technology

Dubbed, Empowering Agripreneurs, the two day seminar workshop was done through the initiative of DAR provincial office here and through the support of various National Government Agencies.
Annie Mauyao of DTI said the sole purpose of the activity is to empower the Agrarian Reform Communities of Quirino especially the Villa Pascua MPCO which is under the Pasigla ARC that is being assisted by Department of Trade and Industry through its CARP Program in partnership with DAR, in introducing the mushroom package and technology training.
“On the first day of the training, Engr. Arthur Faeldon of DAR, Dr. Butch Busania of the DA – Quirino Experiment Station and DTI Provincial Caretaker Lucia P. Guerrero discussed their programs and prospects of mushroom as an Industry,” Mauyao said
A hands-on training on mushroom processing was conducted on the second day where the process of making mushroom patties and siomai (dumplings) was introduced. The trainees were able to make processed mushrooms and produce their own outputs after observing and participating in the demonstration.
The participants were also taught on preparing mushroom seedling, proper packing of seedling using the laboratory apparatuses provided by the KOICA or the Korean International Cooperative Agency and Quirino Experiment Station Laboratory.
Furthermore, a hands- on demonstration and preparation of mushroom seedling (Volvarella) using raw materials such as rice hay, shredded wood chops and molasses was conducted.
Their outputs were later given to them as their models in growing their own cultured mushroom.(ALM/TCB/PIA-2 Quirino)
