The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has recently turned over a Php 37.6-million irrigation facility and a Php 3.3-million potable water system to help increase crop productivity and promote a healthy community in Dupax Del Norte, Nueva Viscaya.
Regional Director Atty. Marjorie P. Ayson said the communal irrigation system (CIS) called the Benay-Wangeon CIS has a service area of 550 hectares and will benefit 423 farmers.
She said the project would serve the farmers of MILA ARC, also benefitting four barangays in the municipality of Inaban, Malasin, Ineangan and Lamo.
The potable water system, on the other hand would benefit 186 households in Barangay Bitnong in MILA Agrarian Reform Community (ARC), Ayson said, adding that it is a project of DAR which responds to the basic social needs of its ARCs for the welfare of the agrarian reform beneficiaries.
Dupax del Norte Mayor Antonio G. Palugod, thanked the DAR for its relentless support and for investing a large amount of money for his constituents.
“We are truly blessed that you have believed in the people of Dupax Del Norte, the project will improve the lives of our farmers and its community and create economic progress in our place,” he said.
