Region 2 farmers get P25 M farm equipment

philstar new logoMANILA, Philippines - The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has turned over P25 million worth of farm equipment to agrarian reform beneficiaries in the Cagayan Valley.

DAR regional director Marjorie Ayson said four farmers’ cooperatives in Cagayan, four in Isabela and three in Nueva Vizcaya received hand tractors, rice threshers and tractors with disc plows, trailing harrows and trailers.

The distribution of farm equipment to farmers’ cooperatives is provided under DAR’s  Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity Economic Support Services program.

“The machines are expected to enhance the economic conditions of farmers because these will greatly improve their farm production. The equipment will also make farming easier for them,” Ayson said.
