DAR-Cagayan Launches Documentary Film-Making Contest

news regional pix 1 oct. 14 2015The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Cagayan recently launched a documentary film-making contest entitled “DAVVUN,” or land in Ybanag.

“Through this contest, we want to bring the success stories of agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) to the public for greater awareness,” said Regional Director Atty. Marjorie P. Ayson.

“There is so much that the public needs to know about the DAR’s contribution to the lives of the ARBs here in the region. The contest will cover stories starting from the year 2010 up to the present,” explains Ayson.

To prepare and orient the contestants, a workshop was conducted in Tuguegarao City on October 5-6, 2015 by Information Officer Benjie S. De Yro, of the Philippine Information Agency Region 02 (PIA 02).

Fifteen groups region-wide have initially signed up for DAVVUN composed of students and independent film-makers, who come from the provinces of Cagayan and Isabela.  Another workshop will later be held for the participants in Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino.

The students, who comprised the greater number of the participants come from different Universities such as Isabela State University and University of Perpetual Help System in Isabela; and Cagayan State University Carig Campus and University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao in Cagayan.

During the workshop, Regional Agrarian Reform Adjudication Director Elizabeth C. Binag was elated over the great number of interested participants who registered for the competition.

“Through you, we can tell these success stories through fresh and different perspectives,” Binag said to the participants.

The film entries will compete in the provincial level where winners will be elevated in the regional level of the competition.  (Danielicah S. Cruz)
