Z WEB 20160121 REGL REG02 REXYThe Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has recently turned over 5.9 million worth of post harvest facility to minimize losses and maintain the quality of crop for the Malaueg Savings and Trainings Cooperative (MALASTCO) in Cagayan Region.
Regional Director Atty. Marjorie P. Ayson said the Malastco is a DAR-assisted cooperative which has received various projects and interventions from the agency.

Ayson said the facilities include 60-sq. meter warehouse, a 48-sq. meter office and a 450–sq. meter solar dryer, all worth P5,909,846.00.

“We know that constructing these facilities is important for our small farmers. When food losses are minimized, there is both food security and increase in income,” she added.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Virgillio Acasili encourages the beneficiaries to help maintain the turned-over facilities.

“To our ARB’s, may you continue to strive harder in increasing your crop production by the new facilities and urge you to secure them to open new infrastructure projects in your municipality,” Acasili said.

Municipal Mayor Atty. Joel Ruma thanked the Department for its support to Rizal. He also promised that the municipality and the project beneficiaries would take good care of the infrastructure projects. (Ma. Iseendra N. Miguel)
