Farmer-beneficiaries in Quirino undergo training

piaQUEZON CITY, Oct. 8 -- The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), in collaboration with the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA),  and the Quirino State University- Maddela Institute of Technology (QSU-MIT) recently conducted a training on troubleshooting of small farm machineries specifically on basic repair & preventive maintenance to the farmer-beneficiraies of Quirino province.  Tres Reyes ARB Credit Cooperative (TRACC) President Jose Laroza said the DAR Quirino, through the Common Service Facilities (CSF) component of the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS) program, previously awarded the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organization (ARBOs) with farm machineries such as: Water Pump, Rice Thresher, Mechanical Reaper, Hand Tractors, Flat Bed Dryer and Mechanical Shredder.  

“The  facilities are intended to support our farming activities thru ARBOs in order to advance and mechanize our agricultural production. The need to properly maintain and operate said machineries lead to the facilitation of our training, “ Laroza said.

The training is participated by 30 members of  various ARBOs including Maddela Integrated Farmers Savings Dev’t. Coop (MIFSADECO), Tres Reyes ARB Credit Coop. (TRACC),  Villa Pascua Multi- Purpose Coop. (VIPAMCO), Ganano Multi Purpose Coop (MPC), Go Quirinians MPC and Cajel Irrigators Association (IA).

Rogelio Barroga, Instructor II of QSU-MIT, thoroughly discussed the preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting. Topics on regular scheduling of maintenance were presented and a hands-on training ensued after the lecture.  The participants were grouped into three to conduct actual troubleshooting on engineEach group had actively participated with the close supervision of the resource speaker.

ARCCESS is the department’s strategic intervention to improve ARB’s lives through increased production and engagement in agri-based and related enterprises. (DAR)
