Farmer-beneficiaries receive livelihood project from DAR

piaCABAGAN, ISABELA, Dec. 22 -- Agrarian Secretary Rafael V. Mariano assisted by DAR Regional Director Atty. Marjorie Ayson turned over poultry, swine and goats to farmer-beneficiaries (FBs) belonging to the Masipi East Irrigators Assoc. and the Del Pilar Multi-Purpose Cooperative where 236 FBs are recipients these farm animals.

This is from the department’s farm animal raising project implemented under the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS).

Mariano said the livelihood project aims to help farmers earn additional household income.

“These animals were provided to farmers for them to raise. They can either sell them for additional income or they can consume them if they are short on food,” said Mariano.

Mariano is in Isabela for the department’s CLOA Distribution Caravan where more than 1,000 farmers of Cagayan Valley gathered to receive their long-awaited land titles. Mariano also turned over infrastructure projects to the local government.

After the CLOA distribution, a farmers’ forum was conducted where the Secretary explained his thrusts and policy directions to the farmers. He also oriented them on the salient points of the genuine agrarian reform program.

The CLOA Distribution Caravan was conducted on Dec. 20 in Capitol Hills Gymnasium in Cabarroguis, Quirino and on Dec. 21 in Cabagan Auditorium. (DAR)
