TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Jan. 5 (PIA) - - After years of land ownership battle with the government, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has finally handed the Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) to 223 farmer-beneficiaries here.Secretary Rafael V. Mariano, in his recent visit here, personally handed the land titles to the beneficiaries covering at least 507 land parcels and 516.9 hectares located in Solana, Enrile, Gattaran, Baggao, Amulung, Lasam, Sta Ana, Gonzaga, Calayan, Camalaniugan, Sto Nino, Tuao, Piat, Ballesteros and Abulug.
Mariano said the certificates of land ownership distributed to the farmers will bind the agreement between them and the government to make the land productive.
“This is manifestation of our desire to strengthen the tenure of land ownership to our farmers,” the secretary said, adding that the land they till is their life.
Aside from the distribution of the land ownership certificates, DAR unveiled its agrarian reform community livelihood projects which include the integrated grains production, village-level livestock raising with feed milling, enhanced sugarcane production and aquaculture development.
The agency also awarded P1.29 million worth of decorticating machines and flatbed dryers to a multi-purpose cooperative in Sta Ana town while over P400,000 worth of micro-finance project to a farmer-credit cooperative in Lallo town. (ALM/OTB/PIA-Cagayan)
