CABARROGUIS, Quirino, May 9 (PIA)—Some 158 farmers affected by the drought last cropping season were awarded with indemnity claims last April 30, 2014, at San Marcos Gymnasium, Cabarroguis, Quirino, by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC).
The farmers who are members of the Ganano Agrarian Reform Community of Diffun came from barangays Ricarte Sur, Luttuad, Dumanisi and Balagbag.
Frelita O. Bartolome, DAR information officer said a total of 2.796 million of crop insurance has been distributed to the farmers who received different amounts ranging from P4,800.00 for one hectare farm and P30, 250,000 for three hectares.
The said amount was charged under the 2013 Agrarian Reform Beneficiary- Agrarian Insurance Program (ARB-AIP), a complementary program to support interventions on credit on agricultural production programs of the Department.
Benito Taguibao, representative of the PCIC-02 during the distribution of checks, urged the recipients to make insurance as part of their farming technology.
“When you get hold of your checks, be sure to allocate an amount for your crop insurance especially now that we are facing the wet season,” he said. (ALM/TCB/PIA 2-Quirino)
