piaTUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, June 4 (PIA)---The Department Agrarian Reform (DAR) here has conducted a six-month training to 46 farmers from selected Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) in Quirino province.

The training is under the Agri-Extension Service (AES) component of DAR’s Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services project (ARCCESS).

From November 23, 2013 to March 31, 2014, the beneficiaries have undergone intensive trainings on palay and corn production adopting the Palay Check System of the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) along with organic agriculture, natural farming systems, integrated crop management and community development.

The training was designed to develop and enhance the knowledge and skills of farmers who will serve as trainers of other farmers within their community for the implementation of DAR’s Agri-Extension Service (AES).

After the training, the participants joined in the Field Exposure Trip held in Quirino Experimental Station at Dungo, Aglipay, Quirino headed by Dr. Fredisminda M. Dolohan, Team Leader of ARCCESS.
