She said the project will also help livestock or swine raisers to minimize the outburst of an odorous smell within their neighborhood.

“This is implemented through a counter-parting scheme among DAR-2, Local Government Unit of Kayapa and Saint Joseph Parish MPC,” Magno added.

DAR has provided P80,000.00 for the capability-building of the identified para-engineers, while the LGU funded the materials amounting to P50,000.00 and the P30,000.00 labor cost  was shouldered  by the cooperative.

The project is composed of Iron Removal Filter, Bio-sand Filter, Biogas Digester and water collector, Magno said.

DAR encouraged other LGUs and MPCs to replicate such project which could generate job opportunities among members of the cooperatives who can be hired for labor requirements of the project. (ALM/PIA 2/with reports from Fe B. Lacbayan, DAR)
