ARBs hailed as provincial ‘Gawad Saka’ winners

piaTUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, July 7 (PIA)---Five Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in the province were recognized as model farmers in different categories during the 2014 Gawad Saka Awarding Ceremony here recently.

This year’s awardees who had contributed in the food sufficiency of the province were Loreto B. Asuncion, Outstanding Rice Farmer of Solana; Renato C. Berlan, Outstanding Corn Farmer of Piat; Eddie C. Carpio, Outstanding Sugarcane Farmer of Solana; Johny Baltazar, Outstanding Small Animal Raiser of Allacapan and Modesto C. Pattung and his family as Outstanding Farm Family awardees of Alcala.

Meanwhile, DAR Regional Director Atty. Marjorie P. Ayson, who awarded the cash gifts, said the amount is little compared to what the ARB-awardees contributed in the food sufficiency not only in Cagayan but in the whole country. (Danielicah S. Cruz, DAR 2/ALM/PIA-2)
