DAR turns over bignay wine processing center to coop

gitnang luzonBALANGA CITY - The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Bataan recently turned over the P500,000 Bignay Wine Processing Center to the Tanato Multi-Purpose Cooperative in upland Barangay Tanato, this town.

The fund used in the construction of the building came from DAR’s Expanded Village Level Processing Center Project.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Engr. Eric San Luis led other agrarian reform officers and DTI officials in the turnover of the center to Tanato MPC represented by its chairperson Guillerma Desepeda.

The DTI, through its program Shared Service Facility, provided two working tables and two stainless containers for the processing center. The agency will also provide a capping machine.

DTI OIC-Provincial Director Nelin Cabahug led other officers in the turnover ceremony.
In his message, San Luis urged officers and members of the Tanato MPC to use the center beneficially for the production of their bignay wine and other products. He also urged them to take good care of the center.

“This center is proof that government funds truly go to the people,” San Luis pointed out.
Earlier, he said that the aim of their grant is for Tanato MPC to further improve the quality of its bignay wine product. He said the cooperative’s bignay wine must be competitive in taste and packaging.

Desepeda vowed to use the center to further develop high-quality bignay wine as well as other products, as she profusely thanked DAR and DTI for the grant.

San Luis was accompanied in the turnover by DAR Region 3 officers Irene Magkalas, Cora Lingat; and DAR Bataan officers CARPO Neil Pedralvez, SARPO Norma Evangelista, and ARPO Erickson Reyes.

Mayor Noel Valdecanas and Francis Garcia, consultant of Balanga Mentors Society, also visited the processing center before the ceremony. Tanato Barangay Captain Sobrino Atienza witnessed the turnover. • Butch Gunio
