DAR-Cavite holds farmer-beneficiaries' congress

news reg 1 pix 1 august 25 2018Barangay Biga, Silang Cavite – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in this province conducted an agrarian reform beneficiaries’ (ARBs) congress, August 25, 2018 held at the International Institute for Rural Reconstruction, to empower the farmer-beneficiaries of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

The issues discussed includes Land Tenure Services (LTS), Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Development Service Program, Agrarian Justice Delivery and other programs of the Land Bank of the Philippines.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) James Arthur Dubongco said the event aims to educate the farmer-beneficiaries about the CARP’s significance to their agricultural and economic lives.

“It is important that you need to understand how CARP works. There are some problems on the coverage of the agricultural lands, one of them is titling of the properties, but be assured that the DAR, together with other government agencies like the Land Registration Authority is continuously working together to process the lands for distribution,” Dubongco said.

Dubongco said once the ARBs received their lands there are government interventions to help them improve their lives.news reg 1 pix 2 august 25 2018

“Being CARP beneficiaries, you also need to know your responsibilities such as paying your taxes and amortizations religiously, as well as making your lands productive,” he added.

Teodorico Escorido, a 63-year old farmer from Magallanes, Cavite, said that through this gathering, he hopes that the support they were expecting from the DAR would be provided to them.

“Some of us are still awaiting for our lands while others need assistances in cultivating their lands, I hope that this congress will address all our needs,” he said.
