Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer  II Conrado S. Guevarra said the graduates are members of the DAR-assisted Dumarao Greenfields Multipurpose Cooperative.

He said the graduates who were taught of basic business concepts and effective farming practices once a week, are from Barangay Dumarao, a community 21 kilometers north of the municipality of Roxas and one of the four agrarian reform communities (ARCs) of the town.

Guevarra said the DAR and the Department of Agriculture (DA), funded by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, initiated the FBS to teach the farmer-students on simple recording, cash flows, value addition, market surveys, selling and costing.

Dr. Elmer T. Ferry, Assistant Technical Regional Director for Operations of the Department of Agriculture in MIMAROPA Region said the FBS taught the farmers to elevate their status from mere producers of raw farm goods to agri- entrepreneurs.

Before the 25-session modules for five months, the DAR personnel who served as facilitators made the farmer-students realized that farming is not just a daily chores to simply make ends meet but a serious business that one invests time, effort and money. ( FEDELEO L. DE GUZMAN)
