DAR marks 27th CARP anniversary

piaDIPOLOG CITY, Aug. 13 (PIA) – As the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently celebrated the 27th anniversary of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP), DAR-9 has reported its accomplishments in the Land Acquisition and Distribution (LAD) program.

Assistant Regional Director Agnes Maata disclosed that as of June 30 this year, DAR-9 had already distributed 226,200 hectares of land to 121,515 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs), leaving a balance of 4,641 hectares.

It has also surveyed 68,038.5793 hectares of new lands and subdivided 68,488.435 hectares of Collective Certificates of Land Ownership Award, and a total of 36,149 hectares were placed under leasehold covering for the benefit of 20,171 ARBs.

Some 491 agrarian cases have also been resolved by the Department of Agrarian Reform Adjudication Board (DARAB), benefiting 284 ARBs.

Moreover, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Mohammad Dassan Adju said three major projects are now being implemented by the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS), namely, the Cacao Production and Processing Project in the 13 municipalities with 31 Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs) worth P31.650 million; the P3.4 million-Rice Mechanization cum Palay Production for Guinles Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Polanco town and a unit of FT Combine Harvester Model 4LZ 2-OD for Guinles Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative (FMPC) worth P3.4 million and the another P1.2-million for flat bed dryer for the ARBOs in Mutia, and; Abacca Production and Processing worth P1.184 million.

For the rural infrastructure projects, it has also implemented 56 sub-projects in 20 ARCs worth P245 million. These include 4 barangay health centers;  8 Day-care centers; 3 multi purpose centers; 3 potable water system(level 2); 15 rehabilitation of Farm-to-Market road; 16-room school buildings; 2 solar dryers, and; 3 irrigation systems.

Dar-9 Regional Director Felix Aguhob said the province also benefited from the P58-million irrigation projects and the Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (PAHP) program wherein ARBOs are given financial assistance to produce agricultural products for its supplemental feeding program including Micro-Financial Agricultural Program in Dipolog City wherein farmers become a well developed and progressive farming.

To give more color to the 27th CARP’s anniversary celebration, Dipolog City also served as host to DAR’s sports event at the Dipolog City Sports Center in Olingan.

Aguhob said, Dipolog City was chosen to be the venue of their regional sports activity because of its cleanliness and favorable peace and order, and also, in recognition of the support extended by the provincial and city governments resulting in the successful implementation of DAR-initiated projects in the province.
