KASAVIFIA Awarded By NIA

The Kauswagan San Vicente Farmers’ Irrigators Association (KASAVIFIA) owner of the Communal Irrigation System (CIS) project in Tambulig, Zamboanga del Sur was awarded last June 25, 2013 in NIA Central Office, Quezon City as 2nd runner up for Most Outstanding Irrigators Association nationwide. The association was evaluated for the year 2012’s performance among 55 CARPER – NIA assisted IAs and 100 plus existing IAs nationwide.
 
The CIS project owned by KASAVIFIA was undertaken under the DAR–ARISP 2 (Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project Phase 2). The project costs P 8.6 Million pesos which was funded by the Japan Bank of International Cooperation and the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) implemented the said project.
 
The CIS helps the KASAVIFIA in producing “palay” and improving agricultural productivity to ease the lives of the rural folks generating a total asset of P4.8 Millionas of2012.
 
“Indeed DAR – NIA – LBP assisted - KASAVIFIA contributes towards food sufficiency in this 2013 National Year of Rice!” remarks DAR – IX RD Julita Ragandang, DAR OIC - PARO II Arturo N. Soria, BDCD Chief Engr. Josephine G. Sisican and Tambulig MARO Allan Apao.
