33 farm owners graduate from farm business school training

news reg 1 pix 1 july 19 2017A total of 33 farmers from Panacio, Antonino, Situbo and Tuburan Agrarian Reform Community (PANCITU ARC) recently graduated from the Farm Business School (FBS) training conducted in Sergio Osmena, Zamboanga del Norte.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Mohamamd Dassan Adju  said that the FBS is funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO-UN) and is implemented by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in partnership with the Department of Agriculture through the Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) and the Local Government Unit (LGU).

Adju said  that the six-month long training from October last year to July this year  aims to enhanced the entrepreneurial and marketing skills of the farmer-beneficiaries to run profitable agribusiness ventures by themselves.

“You learn by doing”, he said during the graduation rites.

DAR Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer Engr Alfonso Tan said that the objective of the FBS is to teach the graduates different farming methods, create market linkages and increase their capability in farm business management to boost their farm income.

PARO I Rizzel B. Villanueva who was also present during the ceremony said that though the DAR provide support to achieve sustainability for this project, the agrarian reform beneficiary plays a significant role for its success. Villanueva was also joined by DA representative Erlinda Laranjo, Municipal Agrarian Reform Officer Elbert Alonzo, FBS Point Person Lorna Pandan and other DAR field implementors.
