Z DARWEB 20150108 R05 MASBATE PINKZ photo 1The Department of Agrarian Reform in Masbate conducted its first Annual Congress for Organizational Empowerment of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) to empower and strengthen these organizations and develop goodwill and strong ties among them.

“We want to inculcate in the hearts and minds of the participants that their respective ARBOs should always have clear objectives and purpose so that the support services and programs given to them by government could truly be translated into sustainable rural development," Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) Herald R. Tambal said.

The participating ARBOs included those from the province’s first district participants of Ticao and Burias islands: The McArthur People's Organization (MPO), Bagahanglad PO, Bayanihan Multi-purpose Cooperative, Inc. (MPCI) and Buenasuerte Marginal Farmers Association. Others were the Jamorawon MPCI, Mabuhay PO, Lantangan PO, Tagbon PO, La Uma Exin Pi PO and MASA PO of the second district; and the Mahayag PO, QUENSCUP ARBs and Marginal Farmers Cooperative, San Ramon MPC and Pio V. Corpus Farmers and Fisherfolks Organization of the third district.

Resource speaker Joel. G. Estevez of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) shared to the participants the Fundamental Principles of Parliamentary Procedures; Concept, Style and Characteristics of Leadership; Organization Management; and Organization Development and its Challenges in the Social Media Era.

"It is important for the ARBOs to meet, talk about their experiences and share good practices. This activity is an effective avenue to promote unity and cooperation not only within their respective groups but also among the different organizations in the province. Now that we have successfully launched our very first ARBO Congress, rest assured that we will carry out this activity annually," PARPO Felix E. Fruto said.

The first Annual Congress for Organizational Empowerment of ARBOs was held on December 10-11, 2015 at Bituon Beach Resort, Barangay Bagacay, Mobo, Masbate. (Ross Aguilar Lustestica)
