The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently declared Catanduanes free from land acquisition and distribution (LAD).
In a formal declaration, Regional Director (RD) Luis B. Bueno Jr. handed over to Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) Alexander T. Teves a LAD-Free Certification he signed together with Asst. Regional Director for Operations, Samuel Solomero.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) Alexander T. Teves said Catanduanes has a total scope on LAD of 15, 014.5970 hectares.
He said under private agricultural land mode of acquisition, 95% rate were distributed in different activities such as operation land transfer, government financing institution, voluntary offer to sell, compulsory acquisition, and voluntary land transfer.
Teves added that there are 10,270 farmer beneficiaries benefited from the program.
In the same event, RD Bueno led the key regional officials and the Bicol PARPOs in distributing certificates of landownership award (CLOA) to 50 beneficiaries in Palumbanes Island, Toytoy, Caramoran covering 102 hectares.
The beneficiaries were unanimous in their pledge of commitment to make their newly awarded lands become productive and consistent with the DAR’s rural development activities in the agrarian reform communities. (Eduardo S. Villar)
