In line with DAR SRA Partnership Program, the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) in coordination with the Department of Agrarian Reform Albay Provincial Office conducted Global Positioning System (GPS) and Soil Sampling on the proposed site for Sugarcane Block Farming Project in Polangui, Albay.
The activity has facilitated the mapping out of a total of 30 hectares of sugarcane farms with 41 farmer beneficiaries in the municipality of Polangui.
A 1.5 hectare demo farm on the proper techniques of growing 86, 524 Ming sugarcane variety is set to be established in one of the seven zones classified by the SRA to demonstrate to the farmers the potential of the chosen variety.
Aside from demo farm establishment in each identified zone, trainings and study missions will also be given to sugarcane farmers to enable them appreciate the technologies adopted by other sugarcane farmers in the country.
The partnership will complement the Muscovado Production and Processing Project of Maysua Farmers Association (MFA), an Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organization (ARBO) under ARCCESS.
