CPWASH project turned-over to SAHA –ARC in Catanduanes

reg5WATER SANITATION FACILITIES were finally turned over, February 18, 2014 to CARP farmer beneficiaries at ARC-SAHA, barangay Bon-ot, San Andres, Catanduanes on February 18, 2014, with DAR Bicol Regional Director Luis B. Bueno Jr., Hon. Mayor Peter C. Cua of San Andres town, and PARPO-II Alexander T. Teves leading the ribbon cutting rites to signal the turn-over of CPWASH facilities –the iron removal filter, bio-sand filter, rainwater collector, and bio-gas digester.
The fear of water-borne diseases of the residents of Barangay Bon-ot of SAHA Agrarian Reform Community in San Andres in Catanduanes ends here as DAR has already turned over the Community-Managed Potable Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (CPWASH) last February 18, 2014.

Present to lead the turn-over rites were San Andres town Mayor Peter C. Cua, RD Luis B. Bueno Jr., ARDO Rodrigo O. Realubit, PARPO-II Alexander T. Teves, Bon-ot, Punong Barangay Gaspar Santelices, and PO Chairperson Demetrio Rodriguez Jr.

Other key DAR officials and personnel in the province were likewise present to witness the event. Prior to that, a hands-on construction of facilities in the area was personally managed by DARCO official, Mr. Bing Quite together with CARPO Nerisa Aldea, Engr. Anselmo Vargas, and Dr. John Joseph Camu.

The water project in Bon-ot, amounting to P 155,000.00 is said to be the first in the province. From this amount, the San Andres LGU allocated P 50,000.00 as counterpart fund. The project uses low-cost, culturally acceptable and appropriate technology that can be managed by the host community. It features provision of iron removal filter, bio-sand filter, rainwater collector, and bio-gas digester. Along with it, the project was complemented by swine and feeds dispersal in the area where the fund of it was taken from the regular fund of the DAR in Catanduanes. (Esvillar)
