ARBOs get 8 farm tractors

piaNEGROS OCCIDENTAL, September 30 (PIA6) - - Eight Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) get one unit each of brand new farm tractors amounting to a total of P41-million from the Department of Agrarian Reform.

DAR-North Negros turned over eight units of 120 Horse Power Massey Ferguson to ARBOs namely : Doris Agrarian Reform Cooperative, Don Esteban ARB Association, Hacienda Bongco Farmers Association; Hacienda Canaan ARB Association, Hacienda Bernardita Multi-Purpose Cooperative; San Vicente I ARC, Hacienda Pula-Silay ARC and the CASA ARC.

The tractors are complete with farm implements and accessories like backhoe, front-end loader, 20 disc trailing arrow, 5-tonner dumping trailer and four-disc plough which will benefit directly some 314 ARBs serving at least 500 hectares in northern Negros.

These are given to ARBOs under the ARCESS program or Agrarian Reform Cooperative Connectivity Economic Support Services which include the areas of Calatrava, Escalante, Cadiz, Silay, and Talisay.

Undersecretary for Support Services Rosalina Bistoyong told the beneficiaries to take care of the tractors as she had shed tears to be able get the tractors pass the standards and finally get the budget approved.

“I challenge all of you that with the tractors, to double your income and become millionaires in your own right.  Diversify and intensify your farming.  Put dignity and pride in your work so you can raise a million in a hectare,” Bistoyong said.

According to Bistoyong, these ARBs can now serve as models for other ARBOs so the same can follow their example and leave a legacy to the community.

ARCCESS is one of the support services implemented by DAR which aims to support the production needs of ARBs and promotion of agri-enterprise development of their ARB organizations.

The upport services include professional services for agri-enterprise and business development, common service facilities and strengthening their access to credit and insurance facilities. *(JCM/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
