DAR installs 348 new ARBs in Sara

theGuardianThe Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Western Visayas installed 348 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) to the 336.8-hectare Sanson Estate in Sara, Iloilo, January 7.

Harriet Loot, DAR-6 Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Officer (CARPO) for Operations, said the property was offered by landowners Alfredo and Federico Sanson for Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) coverage through the voluntary offer to sell (VOS) scheme.

This is now covered by a Memorandum of Valuation by the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) issued on August 8, 1994.

The total area acquired for the farmer beneficiaries was part of the total 427.3-hectare land which covers six barangays – Alibayong, Labigan, Bagaygay, Batitao, Apologista, and San Luis.

The land received Collective Comprehensive Land Ownership Awards (CCLOA) on Aug. 31, 1995, Sept. 28, 1995, Dec. 28, 1995, Nov. 14, 1997 and March to May 2012.

A writ of installation was issued on July 27, 2012.

Loot said the ARBs will share with the 45 titles, each of them receiving a minimum of 1,000 square meters and not exceeding three hectares.

DAR-6 also assured the beneficiaries that they will be provided with the necessary support that will aid them in developing their awarded lots. (PIA-Iloilo)
