Cauayan coop members train on coco processing with DAR, PCA

sunstarTHE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Negros Occidental-South through its Technical Advisory Support Services, in partnership with the Philippine Coconut Authority, conducted a training on coco sugar and virgin coconut oil processing at Barangay Caliling in Cauayan town recently.

The three-day training was participated by the Bajay-Patol Agrarian Reform Cooperative composed of agrarian reform beneficiaries organization (Arbos) whose primary source of income is from the coconut industry.

DAR Negros Occidental-South said the activity is another opportunity for the Arbos to further boost the coconut industry in their locality through venturing into virgin coconut oil and coco sugar processing.

The organization members also underwent the training to develop their skills and enhance competency on marketing and technology adoption for the sustainability of the existing and future projects, it said.

The agency added that the program also aims to provide technical assistance and interventions to partner Arbos especially by implementing and integrating sustainability among their existing businesses.

The training has capacitated them with the required knowledge, skills, and attitudes in managing their own social enterprises, DAR Negros Occidental South said.
