The Department of Agrarian Reform Negros Occidental 2 through its Technical Advisory Support Services in partnership with the Philippine Coconut Authority recently spearheaded a coco sugar and Virgin Coconut Oil training in Brgy. Caliling Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
The three-day activity was participated in by members of the Bajay-Patol Agrarian Reform Cooperative whose primary source of income is the coconut industry, a DAR press release said.
This activity created another opportunity for the ARBO members to expand the coconut industry by producing coco sugar and VCO, it added.
The members of the organization underwent training to develop their skills and enhance competency in marketing and technology adoption for the sustainability of the projects, the press release said.
The program was conducted in order to provide technical assistance interventions to partner ARBOs in implementing and integrating sustainable enterprise in their businesses and to enable them to acquire required knowledge, skills and attitudes in managing their own social enterprises, it also said.*
