The Department of Agrarian Reform Negros Occidental-North reported that P103.5 million is available as financing for its Agrarian Production Credit Program for agrarian reform beneficiaries as of September.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer I Mila Flores said yesterday that this had successful results, including a 90 percent repayment rate from beneficiaries.
Flores said this involves 1,700 hectares covering 27 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations or 1,550 beneficiaries who use the support for sugarcane production, cultivation, land preparation and fertilizers.
The P91 million had already been released, while the P12.5 million will be released soon, she said.
APCP was developed under the RA 9700 or CARPER Law in partnership with the Department of Agriculture and Department of Agrarian Reform, that gives responsive support services particularly credit support especially to new beneficiaries, she said.
Meanwhile, Flores also said that the process of paying back LandBank is positive but there are some individuals who have defaults, and DAR is assisting them to recover.
She said that, in general, the project is successful in helping beneficiaries of ARBOs and cited Hda. Bernardita in Cadiz City where their production doubled and showed improvement in raising yield and increase in income.*KDP
