Loans worth P16 million were given by the Agrarian Productivity Credit Program to seven Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations in the southern part of Negros Occidental, during a ceremony in Bacolod City, yesterday.
The Department of Agrarian Reform-Negros Occidental North released P7.9 million in loans to the Unson-Gil Farms and Agricultural Corporation from Barangay Banquerohan in Cadiz City, the farmer group that received the highest amount, so far.
Other recipients are the Hagnaya Agrarian Reform Cooperative, De Fuego 1 Farmers Association, Hacienda Bongco Farmers Association, Hda. Caridad Farmers-Workers Association, Aliwanag Agrarian Reform Cooperative and San Jose 2 Farmers-Workers Association.
The APCP, a support service program of the DAR, grants loans and finances the agricultural production of farmer-members under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.
Negros Occidental, having a large area of land distributed and of block farms for sugarcane, has the highest budget allocated in the APCP program in the country.
Meanwhile, certificates of Landownership Award were also given yesterday to 30 ARBOs from EB Magalona town, and the cities of Sagay, Cadiz, Silay, and Escalante.
Twenty-four ARBOs from Sagay and Cadiz received their CLOAs covering 285.8 hectares of land, while EB Magalona and Silay, with six ARBOs, got 110.4 hectares covered with CLOAs. An ARBO from Escalante, meanwhile, received a CLOA covering 4.9 hectares.*SGG
