The Department of Agrarian Reform will turn over Common Support Services that include farm machineries and equipment to Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations in Negros Occidental today.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Lucrecia Taberna said yesterday that the turnover is part of the DAR's Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity Economic Support Services Program that aims to increase farm productivity, improve the income of ARBs and sustain their livelihood through the provision of professional services.
The turnovers for DAR north and south will be held today.
Meanwhile, DAR, with the full implementation of the Block Farming Project under Accelerated and Sustainable Anti-Poverty Program, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture and Sugar Regulatory Administration, has identified 16 sugarcane block farms in Negros Occidental, Taberna said.
The DAR, DA and SRA agree on a concerted effort to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of sugarcane farms through the provisions of appropriate support services for the agrarian beneficiary organizations and smallholder farmers association in sugarcane farms under the Sugarcane Block Farm Project, she said.
She added that the program aims to increase the farmer's profitability by applying farm economic efficiency through consolidation of small sugar farms.
In line with this, the signing of Memorandum of Agreement will be initiated by the Department of Agrarian Reform Province of Negros Occidental 2 through the Provincial Program Beneficiaries Development tthe Hacienda Malaga Cuenca Agrarian Reform Cooperative in Brgy. Robles La Castellana, Negros Occidental, Friday. Taberna said.*
