30 NegOcc ARB organizations get national recognition

sunstarlogoTHE Department of Agriculture (DA) has awarded 30 agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (Arbos) in Negros Occidental for their good performance as recipients of the Agrarian Production Credit Program (APCP).

Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala presented the award to the representatives of recipient-Arbos during the Second National Agri-Fisheries Credit Program Assessment and Planning Workshop for Visayas and Mindanao held at the Mallberry Business Suite in Cagayan de Oro City on March 9 to 10.

Of the 30 Arbos, 19 are from the southern portion of the province, Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental-South in a press release said.

These are the Hacienda Pangulayan ARBF Association and Hacienderos Agrarian Reform Cooperative from Bago City; Dama Farmworkers ARB Association of La Castellana, Hacienda Agueda ARB Association, Hacienda Cahilamunan ARB Association of La Castellana, Hacienda Malaga-Cuenca ARC, Hacienda Siga-siga ARB MPC, Hacienda Trinidad MPC, and Minoro-Isabel ARB Association, all of La Castellana; Estela Agrarian Reform Cooperative, and Hacienda Esperanza ARB Association from La Carlota City;

Victor U. Lopez Agrarian Reform Cooperative and Viscaya Agrarian Reform Cooperative in Pontevedra; Occidental Negros ARB Planters’ Association, Kasuco Workers Agricultural Cooperative and Mataba Women’s Association from Kabankalan City; Candumarao Cluster Association in Hinigaran; San Enrique Multi-Purpose Cooperative in San Enrique; and the Bajay-Patol Agrarian Reform Cooperative from Cauayan.

The 11 Arbos in the north which received the national recognition are the Dalayapan ARB Association, Don Esteban ARB Association, Hacienda Anita Farmworkers Association, PFFC Workers and ARB MPC, Hacienda Bernadita ARB MPC, Bulilis MPC, Cambaol FMPC, Libertad MPC, Calidafa, Carp UBMPC, and San Jose ARB MPC.

The APCP is a joint five-year credit and capacity development program of DA, DAR, and the Land Bank of the Philippines designed to respond to the credit needs of Arbos and its members, particularly on various economic projects such as agricultural crop production, agri-enterprise and livelihood projects, the press release said.

It will likewise address the credit needs of existing ARBs who are not yet accessing loans from formal credit market, it added. (EPN)
